Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tool completely free?
Yes — no account, no payment, no hidden limits. Always free.
What file formats can I download?
SRT (with timestamps, works in VLC and most video editors) and TXT (plain text, ideal for pasting into AI tools).
Does it work with auto-generated captions?
Yes. Auto-generated subtitles appear in the language list and can be downloaded just like manually created ones.
Can I get captions in multiple languages?
If the video has captions in multiple languages, they all appear in the dropdown. Select the one you want and download.
Does it work with YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Paste any Shorts URL and it works exactly like a regular YouTube link.
Why does it say "No captions found"?
Some videos have no subtitles — the creator may have disabled them, or the video is too new for auto-captions. The tool can't create captions where none exist.
What is an SRT file?
SRT (SubRip Subtitle) is the most widely supported subtitle format. Each line is numbered with a start and end timestamp. Supported by VLC, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and most other players.
Is my data private?
Yes. No video content passes through our servers. Captions are fetched directly from YouTube to your browser — nothing is stored or logged.
Can I download the video thumbnail?
Yes — the thumbnail loads automatically when you fetch captions. Click Download Thumbnail to save it as a full-resolution JPG (up to 1280×720).
